Presentation Topic Areas

The Planning Committee is calling for presentation proposals for the 2012 Conference. Presentations should focus on drowning prevention or aquatic safety topics, from a variety of different topics. Presentations should fall into one of three Track titles:

Safer Water: Presentation topics will focus on programs, strategies, research, or policy that focuses on making the water safer, such as safety products, barriers, supervision, life guarding, enforcement, policy and legislation. Can include residential or commercial pools and spas; community recreation areas; open water such as oceans, beaches, lakes and rivers; bathtubs, buckets, ponds, etc.

Safer Kids/Adults: Presentation topics will focus on educating and preparing children and adults to be safer around water, such as swim instruction, educational programs, awareness campaigns, life jackets/PFDs, behavior modifications, etc.

Safer Response: Presentation topics will focus on the response to drowning incidents, such as emergency preparedness, water rescue techniques and education; CPR and rescue breathing; first response strategies and processes; medical treatment and care, etc.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION

The Conference is being hosted by the NDPA in partnership with the United States Swim School Association and USA Swimming Foundation. A planning committee has been formed that will be facilitated by Kim Burgess, NDPA Executive Director.

The Conference offers the best-of-the-best in drowning prevention programs, strategies, research and information to advance drowning prevention efforts nationwide for people with disabilities.

  • We want to help you to help others, and we hope to provide you with the latest and most valuable tools for your clients.
